At least eight mortar rounds struck near Aden Adde International Airport in Mogadishu early Monday, triggering alarm sirens inside the heavily secured Halane compound. The area hosts several foreign embassies, as well as the European Union and United Nations missions.
Somali security forces have not yet apprehended those responsible for the attack. However, authorities detained at least two independent journalists and two camera operators covering the incident. The number of casualties remains unclear as investigations continue.
