A local Member of Parliament in Somalia’s Federal Parliament has condemned the “collapse of security” as the number of terror attacks in the country rise.
Abdirizak Mohamed, the MP who once served as Minister of Internal Security, said that the rise in terror attacks is a worrying development.
Mohamed said this after reports emerged last night of nine mortar attacks hitting various locations in Mogadishu.
He mentioned that some of the mortar attacks were reported in places such as Hamar Jajab and in Hamarweyne district.
Stunningly, the MP also indicated that one of the mortar attacks was reported near Villa Somalia, where the Office of the President is located.
Mohamed blamed the attacks on the collapse of security.
Furthermore, he believes that Al-Shabaab and other extremist groups are taking advantage of the ongoing political crisis in the country to increase their attacks.
