A federal Member of Parliament (MP) has called upon the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SODMA) to provide humanitarian assistance to flood victims in Gedo.
Mursal M. Khaliif, the Gedo MP, requested SODMA to work closely with local authorities, the government, and international partners to come to the aid of local residents.
Gedo witnessed one of the heaviest downpours on Friday night.
The downpour caused flash floods that left a trail of destruction all over the region while paralyzing transport and other daily activities.
Thousands of families in the region are affected.
