A female Member of Parliament (MP) has been elected the Deputy Chief Whip of the House of the People (Lower House) in Somalia.
Legislators held a session on August 25 to elect members of various parliamentary committees and sub-committees.
Zahro Bundubte emerged victorious in the race to become the new Deputy Chief Whip of the new parliament.
In the process, she joined the growing list of female politicians elected into leadership positions in the recent past in Somalia.
