National Cohesion Board Charts Way Forward in Mogadishu Meeting

Mogadishu, Somalia — The National Cohesion Technical Advisory Board convened this week in Mogadishu under the theme “Strategic Guidance & Technical Endorsements,” bringing together senior government officials and sectoral experts to review national progress, assess implementation gaps, and outline priority actions for the remainder of the year.

The meeting served as a high-level platform to evaluate the performance of national programs tied to Somalia’s cohesion, reconciliation, and federalism agenda. Key discussions focused on strengthening institutional coordination, aligning technical efforts with policy goals, and ensuring inclusive implementation at both federal and state levels.

Government representatives emphasized the importance of sustaining momentum in the face of complex political and security challenges.

“This forum is essential for aligning our technical input with strategic direction,” said a senior advisor attending the meeting. “Cohesion is the cornerstone of building a peaceful and unified Somalia,” the officer added.

The Board identified specific areas requiring urgent action, including intergovernmental dialogue, equitable service delivery, civic engagement, and social reintegration mechanisms in post-conflict areas.

Recommendations and endorsements from the meeting will guide the next phase of implementation, with a mid-term review scheduled later in the year to measure progress and recalibrate strategy as needed.

The National Cohesion Technical Advisory Board is a core component of Somalia’s nation-building architecture, tasked with advising on policies that promote unity, federal harmony, and sustainable development.
