Mogadishu — The “National Consultation Forum,” which President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud launched earlier in the week, ended in Mogadishu despite a boycott by the opposition group comprising mostly former leaders.
The forum placed a strong emphasis on safeguarding Somalia’s sovereignty, restarting dialogue with Somaliland, and bolstering counter-terrorism efforts against groups like Al-Shabaab and ISIS.
In the concluding remarks, participants called for constitutional amendments through parliamentary processes, supported the push for direct elections, and appealed for sustained negotiations at both federal and state levels to promote long-term political stability in Somalia.
