The national Public Health Emergency Operations Center (PHEOC) has been officially launched in Mogadishu.
Dr. Ali Haji, the Minister of Health, opened the center together with Abdifatah Ahmed, the Director of the National Insurance Health (NIH).
Dr. Haji opened the center on Saturday.
The launch of the PHEOC is critical as it ensures that Somalia improves its capacity to prepare for and respond to emergencies in public health.
PHEOC is up and running courtesy of the support of several organizations.
Two of the organizations that played a major role in ensuring that PHEOC operates in Mogadishu are the Gates Foundation and eHealth Africa.
