National Transformation Plan Coordination Workshop Launched in Mogadishu

Mogadishu, Somalia – The Director General of the Ministry of Planning, Investment, and Economic Development, Mohamed Shire, delivered key remarks today at the official launch of the National Transformation Plan (NTP) Pillar Coordination Mechanism Workshop held in Mogadishu.

The high-level workshop marks a critical step in advancing Somalia’s National Transformation Plan, which outlines a roadmap for inclusive development, institutional reform, and sustainable growth.

DG Shire emphasized the importance of coordination among all government institutions, development partners, and stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of the NTP.

“This coordination mechanism will serve as the engine that drives the alignment of policies and programs across sectors, ensuring that our development efforts are efficient, integrated, and responsive to the needs of our people,” Shire stated.

The workshop brought together senior officials from various ministries, international development agencies, and technical experts who will form part of the pillar coordination teams.

Participants discussed strategies to harmonize activities under the NTP pillars and improve monitoring, reporting, and accountability frameworks.

The NTP, approved by the federal government earlier this year, aims to transform Somalia’s economy and governance structures over the next five years.

The launch of the coordination mechanism signals the government’s commitment to a unified and results-driven approach to national development.

The ministry reaffirmed its role in leading and overseeing the plan’s execution and called on all stakeholders to contribute meaningfully to the shared vision of a stable and prosperous Somalia.
