At the handover ceremony held at the Ministry of Defence headquarters in Mogadishu, newly appointed Defence Minister Ahmed Moallim Fiqi pledged a comprehensive reform agenda.
He emphasized close collaboration with the National Army Command, strengthened ties with international security partners, and a merit-based review of military ranks.
The minister also committed to enhancing transparency in army logistics, accelerating counter-terrorism operations, and supporting community-led efforts against Al-Shabaab.
Additionally, he welcomed constructive input from all Somalis—including opposition figures—on strategies to improve military offensives.
