New FESOJ Secretary General to Advocate for Increased Capacity Building of Journalists

Farah Omar Nur, the newly elected Secreted General of the Federation of Somali Journalists (FESOJ) has vowed to advocate for increased capacity building of journalists.

Nur was elected on January 18 to take over from Mohamed Moalimuu, who resigned and joined Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) as a spokesperson.

FESOJ’s Supreme Council and Executive Committee elected him as Secretary General until June 2023 when Somali journalists get a chance to vote for him.

While delivering his acceptance speech, Nur said that he would prioritize advocating for improve capacity building of all Somali journalists.

He stated that journalists in the country work under very difficult circumstances.

Somalia is ranked as one of the worst and most dangerous places for journalists to work in anywhere in the world.

Nur promised to be an advocate for the rights of journalists and all media workers.

Through this, the new FESOJ Secretary General assured journalists of new changes that would allow them to work well.
