The new Commander of Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) made his maiden visit to Somalia.
Gen. Francis Omondi Ogolla was in Somalia on Saturday.
He visited the Presidential Palace in Kismayo where he held discussions with President Ahmed Islam Madobe of the regional state of Puntland.
Gen. Ogolla was in the company of Brig. Gen. Lucas Kutto, the Commander of the Kenyan contingent at the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS).
They discussed security in Jubbaland.
Furthermore, Gen. Ogolla, Brig. Gen. Kutto and President Madobe spoke about the ongoing drawdown of ATMIS forces in the region.
This was Gen. Ogolla’s maiden visit to Somalia since President William Ruto appointed him the Chief of the Defense Forces in April this year.
