New Lab Boosts Somalia’s Food Safety and Exports

Mogadishu – At the official launch of the SARIS Pesticide Laboratory, UNIDO Somalia Chief Technical Advisor Najib Abdi praised the new facility as a transformative milestone for Somalia’s agricultural sector.

He described it as a “game-changer” for food security and a critical boost to Somalia’s capacity to meet international export standards.

The lab is expected to enhance the monitoring of pesticide residues in food products, ensuring safer local consumption and improved compliance with global trade requirements.

Abdi emphasized that the laboratory will empower Somali farmers by opening new market opportunities and strengthening sustainable agriculture practices.
