Mahdi M. Gulaid, the newly appointed Acting Prime Minister of Somalia, has launched a COVID-19 Quarantine Unit at a local hospital in Mogadishu.
Today, the Prime Minister visited Banadir Hospital where he cut the cord to signal the opening of the COVID-19 unit.
The unit would be used to quarantine patients diagnosed with the novel coronavirus.
Somalia’s Ministry of Health is rebuilding the facility in conjunction with Hormuud Telecom, which is one of the country’s largest telecom firms.
During the ceremony, Prime Minister Gulaid urged for increased cooperation between the Federal Government of Somalia and the business community.
He said great success would follow any close cooperation between the various stakeholders in the health sector.
