New SNA Graduates Deployed to Frontlines in Fight Against Al-Shabaab

Newly trained units of the Somali National Army (SNA), who graduated in Dhuusamareeb, the capital of Galmudug State, have been deployed to the frontlines as part of ongoing military offensives against the terrorist group Al-Shabaab.

The troops completed their intensive training under the supervision of the Chief of Army Ground Forces, Major General Sahal Omar, who officially concluded their program during a ceremony held on Friday. The deployment reflects Somalia’s commitment to strengthening national security and reclaiming territories still under militant control.

Maj. Gen. Sahal praised the new recruits for their discipline and dedication, emphasizing the critical role they will play in upcoming military operations. He noted that the graduates have received advanced combat and counterinsurgency training tailored for the current security threats facing the nation.

This deployment comes amid a broader push by Somali security forces, supported by international partners, to dismantle Al-Shabaab’s strongholds and restore stability across conflict-affected regions.
