New Somali Ambassador to Indonesia Presents Credentials, Eyes Stronger Bilateral Ties

In a significant diplomatic step, Somalia’s newly appointed Ambassador to Indonesia, Faisal Ahmed Salad, officially presented his credentials to Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto during a ceremony held at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta. The occasion marked a renewed commitment to deepen diplomatic and economic relations between the two nations.

Ambassador Faisal expressed optimism about the future of Somalia-Indonesia relations, emphasizing the vast potential for tangible cooperation in various sectors, especially business and trade. He underscored the importance of fostering partnerships that can lead to mutual growth and prosperity, noting that Somalia is eager to explore new avenues of collaboration with one of Southeast Asia’s largest economies.

The Ambassador also pointed out opportunities for cooperation in areas such as agriculture, education, and infrastructure development—sectors that are vital to Somalia’s recovery and long-term development. The exchange reflects Somalia’s broader foreign policy goal of strengthening strategic alliances across Asia and beyond.

President Prabowo welcomed the Ambassador and reiterated Indonesia’s readiness to build stronger ties with Somalia, particularly through people-to-people connections, trade facilitation, and capacity-building initiatives.
