Halima Ismail, the Chairman of the National Independent Electoral Commission (NIEC) has met virtually with the representatives of United Nations in Somalia.
Ismail attended the meeting with several Commissioners of the polls body.
Several representatives of other organizations also participated at the meeting, which examined several issues crucial to the Horn of Africa nation.
Nevertheless, the primary agenda was the country’s preparedness towards the upcoming elections later this year.
The East African nation is set to hold historic elections towards the end of the year.
Members of the international community, including some of Somalia’s most important allies and partners, have shown interest in the country’s upcoming elections.
Mostly, they have been urging NIEC to ensure that the country is prepared for the first one-person-one-vote system in the country for over 30 years.
