NIEC Says It Has Registered Six New Political Parties

The National Independent Electoral Commission (NIEC) has registered six new political parties, which hope to take part in the General Elections set for the end of the year.

It gave their names as Hiil Qaran Party, Danaha Bulshada Somaliyed Party, and Mandeq Party. Others are Hilow Party and Tubta Toosan Party.

Dimuqaradiga Danwadaag Party is among the six that have been officially registered in time to start operating in Somalia.

With the exclusion of the ruling party, NIEC has now registered a total of 82 transitional parties in the country.

NIEC made this announcement during a meeting held with Federal Member States. Women, the youth, intellectuals, university students, and the disabled were at the meeting too.

Somalia is expected to hold the first one-person-one-vote polls since 1969.
