Niger Urged to Release Somali Nationals from Prison

Niger has been urged to release Somali nationals who have been in detention in the country’s prisons for a long time.

Deputy Prime Minister Salah Jama of Somalia extended this request to President Mohamed Bazoum of Niger.

The two leaders met on Monday, November 28 in Niamey, the capital of Niger.

Jama had been in Niger to attend the African Union (AU) Extraordinary Summit.

However, Deputy Prime Minister Jama did not mention the exact number of Somali nationals currently held in Niger prisons.
