Nine healthcare workers were abducted, killed, and their bodies dumped along a highway in Gololey on Thursday.
According to authorities, unknown people wearing masks to hide their identities abducted the workers near a Gololey health facility last night.
The abductors then killed the workers before dumping their bodies on the highway. All the nine workers were employed by Zamzam Humanitarian Agency.
Speaking on condition of anonymity, a relative to the deceased blamed their deaths on the Somali National Army (SNA).
The relative said the abduction and subsequent murder were in retaliation to the landmine explosion suspected to be the work of Al-Shabaab.
Members of the Al-Qaeda linked group are suspected to have carried out the Tuesday attack, which targeted a military convoy.
