Nine people were killed in inter-clan clashes in Somalia’s Sanaag region.
The clashes, which broke out this week and lasted the better part of two days, are fueled by disputes over resources such as land, water, and grazing rights.
The conflict in Sanaag is one of several inter-clan tensions that continue to challenge stability in various parts of Somalia.
They happen despite ongoing efforts by local authorities and community elders to mediate and find lasting peace.
The federal government has appealed for calm in Erigavo, a Sanaag district.
