NIRA Inaugurates New Service Center in Boondheere, Benadir Region

On Saturday, the National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA) marked a significant milestone with the official opening of its new service center in Boondheere District, Benadir region. The inauguration ceremony was led by Abdirahman Said, NIRA’s Deputy Director-General, alongside Boondheere District Commissioner Abdullahi Hasan, underscoring the government’s commitment to expanding access to vital civil registration and identification services.

The new center is expected to streamline the issuance of national IDs, birth certificates, and other critical documents, enhancing service delivery for residents of Boondheere and surrounding areas. In his remarks, Deputy DG Abdirahman Said emphasized NIRA’s dedication to decentralization, ensuring efficient and equitable access to identification services across Somalia.

District Commissioner Abdullahi Hasan praised the collaboration between NIRA and local authorities, noting that the center will significantly reduce bureaucratic hurdles for citizens while bolstering security and governance through improved identity management.

The opening aligns with NIRA’s broader strategy to modernize Somalia’s civil registry infrastructure, promoting inclusivity and facilitating access to education, healthcare, and financial services for all citizens.

Residents of Boondheere can now visit the center to register for or update their national identification documents, with NIRA officials on hand to assist with the process.
