Officials from Somalia’s National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA) visited the offices of Pakistan’s National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) for benchmarking.
The NIRA personnel were in the NADRA offices last week.
NIRA extended gratitude to NADRA and the Pakistani government for the technical support offered to the Somali agency in implementing the new national ID and registration system.
Somalia recently announced plans to switch to a digital ID and registration system.
NIRA added that its partnership with NADRA is invaluable in empowering Somalis.
The NIRA team that visited NADRA offices was under the leadership of its Director General Abdiwali Ali Abdulle. Others included the Director of the Civil Registration DirectorateAbdulqani Muhammed Wehliye.
NADRA provides the technical support that NIRA requires for the implementation of the new national identity system project in Somalia.
