NISA Arrests Journalists While Ramping up Media Attacks

The National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) arrested journalists in Mogadishu while ramping up media attacks.

On February 8, NISA officers arrested two journalists after raiding the Somali Cable TV offices in the nation’s capital.

With the arrest and raids growing by the minute, there is fear that the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) has declared war against free press.

The increased attacks come as the East African nation is about to hold elections.

Political temperatures have already risen to dangerous levels in different parts of the Horn of Africa nation.

Journalists arrested in Monday’s raid at the offices of Somali Cable TV remain in police custody four days later.

Somalia has been described as one of the worst and most dangerous places for journalists in the world.
