NISA Blamed for the Deadly Mogadishu Prison Shootout

Somalia’s National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) has been blamed for Monday’s deadly Mogadishu prison shootout.

Yesterday, Mogadishu Central Prison was the scene of a deadly shootout that caused several deaths as Al-Shabaab inmates tried to escape from prison.

According to the latest reports, 19 people died while a convict escaped from prison.

Abdirahman Abdishakur Warsame, the leader of Somalia’s Wadajir Party, says the spy agency must take responsibility for the mayhem that ensued in the prison.

He said that Al-Shabaab has worked closely with the spy agency to cause instability in the country and make Somalia more insecure.

Warsame stated that NISA, under the leadership of its chief spy, Fahad Yasin, has conspired with the Al-Qaeda linked group to cause insecurity all over the country.

He went further to assert that reports indicating that weapons were smuggled to the inmates should be blamed on NISA rather than prison guards.

The government is yet to respond to Warsame’s claims.
