National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) officers killed several Al-Shabaab militants in Mogadishu.
According to reports, the NISA officers killed at least 12 militants on December 1.
This follows an operation that NISA – and other security agencies – launched in the country to destroy Al-Shabaab hideouts.
Over the last three weeks, Al-Shabaab has launched improvised explosive device (IED) attacks in Mogadishu.
Two IED attacks caused the deaths of around 10 people while injuring many others.
A statement dated December 1 shows that NISA carried out a special operation in the nation’s capital to arrest at least 15 militants.
Three of the militants escaped while 12 lost their lives in the ensuing shootout.
