The National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) has announced plans to start collecting data for all civil servants in Somalia.
Sadiq Warfa, Somalia’s Minister of Labour and Social Affairs, announced that all employees of the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) must submit their personal data to NISA.
According to Warfa, the move is part of the government’s efforts to streamline operations in all its departments.
He urged all who are in charge of their departments to ensure that close cooperation with NISA is encouraged to make the process as seamless and effective as possible.
However, Warfa has not provided exact timelines of the project.
Instead, he urged government ministries to provide the space the NISA detectives need to collect data.
NISA is one of the most powerful institutions in the East African nation.
Its head, Fahad Yasin, a former journalist with Al-Jazeera, is one of President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo’s closest allies and confidants.
