A Somali nominated Senator has encouraged President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo to stop using Kenya as a reelection campaign tool.
Farhiya Ali Haji made these comments on Wednesday, December 2.
Instead, she urged President Farmaajo to ensure that members of his administration focus on Somalia’s domestic affairs.
Senator Haji said that Somalia grapples with multiple domestic issues that need the full attention of the government to solve for the benefit of all Somalis.
She also told Farmaajo that Kenya has always been Somalia’s faithful partner.
Her comments come in the wake of the latest diplomatic spat between Kenya and Somalia.
President Farmaajo expelled Kenyan Ambassador to Somalia, Lt. Gen. Lucas Tumbo while recalling its Ambassador to Kenya.
While making this move, Farmaajo’s administration accused Kenya of interfering with Somalia’s internal affairs.
