NUSOJ Calls for Reduced Discrimination against Somali Women in Media

The National Union of Somali Journalists (NUSOJ) has called for reduced discrimination against Somali women in the media industry.

It said this during an advocacy campaign held jointly with the Somali Women Development Center (SWDC).

The campaign was on Saturday.

The purpose of the campaign was to allow NUSOJ, SWDC, and other organizations to highlight the violence and discrimination that Somali women endure in newsrooms around the country.

They did this under the wings of the United Nations’ Peace-Building Fund.

All participants agreed that Somali women in the media need more support to overcome barriers while challenging stereotypes on their roles and statuses within the society.
