The National Union of Somali Journalists (NUSOJ) has issued a scathing attack on Somaliland authorities for arresting three journalists who were discussing the Ethiopia-Somaliland deal.
NUSOJ hit out at Somaliland authorities for arresting the journalists who were discussing the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with Ethiopia on January 1, 2024.
Somaliland security personnel arrested Mohammed Abdi Sheikh, Mohamed Abdi Abdullahi, and Ilyaas Abdinasir.
Sheikh is the owner of MMTV.
At the time of the arrest, the three journalists were in a discussion on X (Twitter) Space discussing the merits and demerits of the MoU.
NUSOJ says that the raid and subsequent arrest are “unjustifiable and arbitrary.”
