OCHA Disbursed US$234.8 million in Cash-Based Transfers in Somalia from January-November

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has released the latest report for Somalia. In the report released earlier this week, OCHA provided a number of interesting updates.

Humanitarian Aid in Luuq
Partners have increased their efforts to support displaced communities in Luuq, where violence has displaced approximately 30,000 people. Immediate assistance includes shelter, food, and health services.

Cash-Based Transfers
Since January 2024, humanitarian partners have disbursed US$234.8 million in cash-based transfers to provide lifesaving support to vulnerable populations.

2025 Response Plan
The humanitarian response plan for 2025 has prioritized 10 districts based on their vulnerability and the scale of humanitarian needs, ensuring focused and effective interventions.

Flood Impact in Belet Weyne
Recent floods in Belet Weyne have affected around 40,000 people, leading to urgent needs for shelter, food, and water. Relief efforts are underway to address the crisis.
