The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said that a district in Bakool is grappling with worsening food situation.
On January 17, OCHA issued a statement confirming that Xudur District in Bakool is experiencing a horrendous food situation.
According to OCHA, the situation has exposed hundreds of thousands of people to possible starvation.
In OCHA’s report, the price of food has risen sharply in Xudur District in the last two months.
OCHA stated that the sharp increase in the price of food is the direct result of a blockade that has made it impossible for fresh produce to enter the region.
Consequently, OCHA has sent out a request to state authorities and humanitarian partners to contribute to solve the situation before it worsens.
