OCHA Warns Somalia Could be Affected by Heavy Rains in April-June

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) issued a warning of heavy rains in Somalia in the next few months.

According to OCHA, the April-June rains in the country could be just as severe as those of the past few months.

Consequently, OCHA expects airstrips around the nation to be inaccessible.

OCHA stated this in the report it published on its activities in Somalia in December 2023.

The organization added that its logistics cluster relied on two helicopters last month to support humanitarian activities in various parts of the country.

It added that closure of supply routes could be a real threat in April-June and October-December 2024.
