The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has warned of a looming humanitarian crisis in Somalia because of lack of funding.
On Tuesday, OCHA warned that the lack of funds has forced it to slow down or postpone many of its humanitarian projects in the East African nation.
Further, the organization stated that all the gains the country and its international partners have made in humanitarian and socio-economic fields could be lost.
Somalia has been forced to deal with several disasters in 2020 alone.
The most serious include the COVID-19 pandemic, intense floods from abnormally heavy rains, and locust invasion.
Consequently, OCHA has called for “further support” to cater for responses to the ongoing humanitarian crises.
