A popular Somali singer, Omar Abdulle Shooli, who died on Tuesday night in Mogadishu, was laid to rest on Wednesday.
Shooli died in a Mogadishu hospital where he had been receiving treatment for the last two months.
He is a legendary Somali musician who has been part of the highly celebrated group known as Waberi National Band.
Several dignitaries sent their condolences to the late singer’s family. Among them was the Minister of Education, Abdullahi Godah Barre.
According to Barre, Shooli was a one of the country’s best singers. He hailed the singer for playing his part in promoting Somali art and culture.
