Reports from Gedo indicate that one person was killed and several others injured when Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) soldiers fired at civilians.
The incident reportedly took place on Wednesday.
Several sources allege that the KDF soldiers fired at civilians in Gedo’s El-Adde village. One person was killed on the spot.
According to the sources, three other individuals were injured and rushed to hospital for medical treatment.
The circumstances under which the incident took place remain unclear.
Jubbaland authorities are yet to confirm or comment on the matter.
KDF has over 4,000 troops in the country as part of the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) mandate.
However, it also has several other troops working outside the AMISOM ambit, much like Ethiopia, the other Somalia neighbor.
