Ongoing Drought Has Affected 42% of Somalia’s Population

The ongoing drought in Somalia has affected close to 42 percent of the country’s population.

Ahmed Fiqi, the federal Minister of Interior Affairs, announced this bombshell when addressing the media on September 6.

According to Fiqi, the ongoing drought has left around 894,000 people homeless countrywide.

His report also mentioned close to 1.5 million Somali children in the country are currently malnourished.

The minister admitted that the ongoing drought in the East African nation, which has affected 6.9 million people, is also the worst of the last 40 years in Somalia.
