ONLF Mourns Death of Former Somali Prime Minister

Ogaden National Liberation Front (ONLF) has mourned the death of Professor Ali Khalif Galaydh, a former Prime Minister of Somalia.

Galaydh passed away in Jigjiga, the administrative capital of Ethiopia’s Somali.

Reports from Jigjiga indicate that the Professor Galaydh died of COVID-19 complications.

The 79-year old Galaydh had served as the Prime Minister of Somalia between October 8, 2000 and October 28, 2001.

ONLF praised Professor Galaydh as a “prominent educator” and “political figure” who played a crucial role in advancing the causes of Somalis.

The group agitates for the self-determination rights of all Somalis in Ogaden.
