Opposition Leader Condemns Farmaajo for Taking Advantage of IDPs

A Somali opposition leader has condemned President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo for taking advantage of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in the country.

Abdirahman Abdishakur, who leads the opposition Wadajir Party, faulted Farmaajo for not mourning the 8 young men killed at a Mogadishu restaurant by extremists.

The eight young men, who had bright futures to look forward to, had their lives snatched out violently in a suicide bomb attack at Gelato Divino restaurant in the nation’s capital.

A day later, Farmaajo organized a match by IDPs along the streets to show that they were fully behind his bid for reelection in next year’s presidential elections.

Abdishakur faulted the President for “taking advantage of IDPs even before mourning the death of the eight young Somali men.”

The Wadajir Party leader said that a “person of conscience would not have done what Farmaajo did on Saturday.”
