Opposition Leader Urges FGS to Offer Immediate Assistance to Residents of Bakool

Thabit Mohamed, the leader of opposition People’s Power Party, has requested the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) to extend immediate assistance to residents of Bakool.

Mohamed, who has also added his name to the list of aspirants vying for next month’s presidential elections, sent the request to the government on January 15.

On Friday, he called on the people and government of Somalia to assist their brothers and sisters in Bakool.

According to the leader of the People’s Power Party, the people of Bakool face multiple problems that include food shortage.

He also mentioned that the residents of Bakool are grappling with Al-Shabaab insurgency, which has caused several deaths and injuries.

The locust infestation also needs tackling, as per Mohamed’s statement.

Similarly, he requested the Southwest administration to extend assistance to Bakool residents.

He urged the government of Southwest to develop a security plan for the people of Baidoa-Hudur to allow businesses to reopen.
