Opposition politicians visited the site of the planned anti-government rally in Mogadishu on February 18.
The presidential candidates from the opposition visited Daljirka Dahson Monument, which is also known as the Unknown Soldier’s Monument on Thursday afternoon.
They were escorted by well-armed security guards.
Journalists also followed in tow to capture the moment.
Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and Sharif Sheikh Ahmed, two former presidents of Somalia, led their colleagues in the visit.
The politicians have called for a large turnout by their supporters.
They intend to use the rally to protest over the government’s failure to hold elections.
Moreover, the politicians have also criticized the decision by President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo to remain in office despite his term expiring on February 8 at midnight.
