Outgoing ATMIS Military Officers Honored in Somalia

Outgoing African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) officers have been honored for offering exemplary services in the country.

On July 23, ATMIS presented medals and certificates to 40 of its officers for making an outstanding contribution to Somalia’s security, peace, and stability.

Fiona Lortan, the Deputy Special Representative of the Chairperson of the African Union Commission (DSRCC), presided over the award ceremony.

She expressed gratitude to the ATMIS officers for their “selfless service.”

Lortan also hailed the “immense sacrifices” the officers made in advancing the goals of the Somali Transition Plan (STP).

Lt. Gen. Diomede Ndegeya, the ATMIS Force Commander, commended the officers for discharging their duties exceptionally well.
