Mohamed Mursal, the outgoing Speaker of the House of the People (Lower House), has emerged victorious in Southwest’s elections.
Mursal has become the first Member of Parliament (MP) to win elections for the Lower House seats in Southwest regional state.
Currently, Southwest State is holding the first of its parliamentary elections.
Somaliland and Galmudug have also started their elections for Lower House seats.
Mursal’s tenure as the Speaker of the House of the People expires once these elections are over.
