More than 1 million households in Somalia are set to benefit from low cost electricity.
That’s after the government revealed that the World Bank would help finance the the Somalia Electricity Recovery Project.
A report titled Somalia Poverty and Vulnerability Assessment, which the World Bank prepared in 2019, concluded that 9 million Somalis are unable to access electricity.
In a country of 15 million people, that’s quite a large segment of the population.
Kristina Svensson, the World Bank Country Manager for Somalia, assured citizens of the East African nation that they would soon have access to low cost electricity.
Over 7 million individuals are likely to benefit from the project.
