Over 100,000 People Affected by Baidoa Floods

More than 100,000 people have felt the negative impact of last week’s heavy rains and the subsequent floods in Baidoa.

Franz Celestin confirmed this latest development on Monday.

Celestin, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Chief of Mission in Somalia, said that the floods affected 107,000 people in the region.

He added that the floods also destroyed shelters for 86,700 internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Baidoa.

The shelters left in ruins are located in 136 sites in Baidoa.

Celestin assured the victims that IOM would continue providing life-saving humanitarian assistance to those in need.
