Over 5,000 Trees Planted in Somalia on International Day of Forests

More than 5,000 trees were planted across Somalia as the world celebrated the International Day of Forests.

Somalia joined the rest of the world in celebrating the International Day of Forests on March 21.

The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change led the celebrations in Somalia.

Khadija Mohamed Al-Makhzumi, the environment minister, led her colleagues and the rest of the country in the tree-planting exercise.

She expressed gratitude to the leaders of the Federal Member States (FMS) for leading their regions to plant trees.

Regions that took part in the exercise included Puntland and Galmudug.

Others were Jubbaland, Southwest, and HirShabelle.
