Over 6.8 Million Somalis Affected by Drought have Received Assistance

More than 6.8 million Somalis affected by the ongoing in the country have received assistance.

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) stated this in its latest report on November 25.

In the report, OCHA commended Somalia’s international partners for stepping up to help the country.

Thus far, 6.8 million people have received assistance out of a target of 7.6 million.

Nevertheless, OCHA has called for an “urgent scaling up” of assistance since the number of people who are in desperate need remains quite high.

Furthermore, OCHA issued a reminder of the presence of critical gaps.

The report is for the period running from January-October 2022.
