Authorities in Somaliland have deported more than 700 individuals from Southern Somalia.
The deportation took place on October 2.
There are fears that Mogadishu could retaliate against Somaliland after the deportation of the close to 750 traders.
The traders, women, and children deported on Saturday were based at Las Anod, Sool.
Interestingly, they were in a region that has historically been the center of conflict between Somaliland and Puntland.
According to insiders, the move was based on fears by Hargeisa over the growing insecurity in the region.
Consequently, businessmen in Bossaso have announced that they would not open for work on Sunday, October 3.
Instead, the businessmen, who are mostly from Southern Somalia, plan to spend the day demonstrating over the expulsion of the 750 individuals.
