A House of Representatives parliamentary committee summoned and grilled Somaliland’s Minister of Religious Affairs.
Sheikh Khalil, the minister in charge of the religious affairs docket, answered questions regarding the lyft tobacco that has been seen in the markets a lot in recent times.
Afterward, the committee’s chairperson addressed the media on the agenda of the meeting.
He said they sought answers from minister Khalil on the impact of tobacco use among the public.
The chairperson also clarified that the minister provided answers on the changing face of the country’s youth, especially where culture is concerned.
Furthermore, Khalil provided more information on the recent cremation of the body of a foreign national in Hargeisa.
On his part, Khalil reminded the people of Somaliland that Islam does not condone behavior that is harmful to anyone.
He reassured the committee that lyft tobacco was imported into the country legally.
Furthermore, he said the product has been tested by the relevant authorities to ensure that it is safe for use.
