Speaker Abdirisaq Khalif Ahmed of the House of Representatives has been prosecuted for undermining the sovereignty of Somaliland.
Attorney General Abdirahman Jamac Hayan prosecuted the case against Speaker Ahmed.
AG Hayan highlighted the constitutional aspects of the case during the prosecution.
Hayan added that the proceedings against Speaker Ahmed are not of a punitive nature. Instead, they are based on Article 79 of the country’s constitution.
The AG mentioned that Speaker Ahmed had demonstrated his allegiance to Somalia and not Somaliland.
