Gamal M. Hassan, Somalia’s Minister of Planning, Investment, and Economic Development, has commended Hormuud Telecom for donating 1,000 oxygen cylinders to local hospitals.
He congratulated Hormuud for making such a gesture as part of the firm’s contribution to the fight against COVID-19, which continues to wreck havoc in the East African nation, especially since the beginning of 2021.
Hormuud made the donations on February 23.
A day later, Hassan labeled the act “commendable.”
Furthermore, the planning minister praised Hormuud for setting a perfect example to other businesses in the country on how to execute Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in the face of the pandemic.
He urged more local businesses to step in and support the government’s COVID-19 efforts.
Hormuud made the donation in response to reports that the country’s health facilities lack sufficient oxygen cylinders needed to treat and take care of patients diagnosed with the virulent disease.
